GOSSIP GIRL ACAPULCO
A Spanish-language version of the long running hit series Gossip Girl has been commissioned by Televisa in Latin America from Warner Bros. International Television Production. The 25 episode season, to be shot in Acapulco and produced by Mexico City based El Mall, will premiere in October 2013 on Canal 5 in Mexico, with more pan regional broadcasters to follow. Titled Gossip GirlACAPULCO, the format was originally unveiled last week by its producers in Mexico.
The U.S. version of the show, about a group of affluent young elite who use their money, access and appetite to explore all the temptations urban life has to offer, has been a Cult hit for the cable channel for the last five years, winning a legion of devoted fans.
Originally produced in the U.S. by Fake Empire, Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, the hit series ran on The CW from 2007 for six seasons and over 100 episodes. Inspired by the best-selling series of young-adult novels, Gossip Girl was executive produced by Josh Schwartz (Chuck, The O.C.) and Stephanie Savage (The O.C.).
"We are very excited about working with El Mall and Televisa on the Latin American version of GOSSIP GIRL. The show has established itself as an icon of aspirational urban lifestyle; setting trends in fashion, music and pop culture and we think that the success of the show will translate well internationally" said Andrew Zein, Senior Vice President, Creative, Format Development and Sales, Warner Bros. International Television Production.
"It is a big honor for us at El Mall to work together with Warner Bros. International Television Production in one of the most successful television shows which will let us increase our catalogue of entertainment for different audiences. It is the first time that a Mexican producing company and Warner Bros. get together in a production that will make history in Mexican television. Moreover, El Mall is very proud to have the opportunity to produce Gossip Girl ACAPULCO" - Pedro Torres, CEO, El Mall.

And here's the preview, unfortunately I can't understand it as it's all in Spanish but hopefully the actual episodes will be available in English, or at least with subtitles else I'll be struggling!
