Murray Wins Wimbledon

http://www.espn.co.uk/PICTURES/CMS/50600/50615.2.jpg

Andy Murray has, at last and after many attempts, won Wimbledon. He beat
Novak Djokovic in the final this afternoon. The game was short with Murray winning with 3 sets to 0. To see the magical moment Murray won click HERE and watch the clip on the BBC website. The link also includes comments from Murray himself and a brief overview of the match.

Return of the BOOSH

Ooosh!! The Mighty Boosh is back! Well, sort of.
Last Thursday night the duo (Noel Fielding and Julian Barrat) reunited as a part of Beck's Song Reader show. The Boosh performed a song called 'We All Wear Cloaks', a song which I'm sure you'll agree if very them.
Incase, like me, you didn't manage to attend the event here is a clip of the Boosh's performance:

To view pictures of the night click HERE and you'll be whizzed away to a Flickr album. For more information about the night then click HERE.

As well as that appearance the Boosh are also appearing at a comedy festival in LA. The Festival Supreme is hosted by Jack Black and takes place on Saturday 19th October. To see who else has been booked to perform and to go directly to the Festival Supreme website click HERE.

Robots In Disguise

A few weeks ago I was 'surfing the net' (gosh that phrase makes my cringe but I don't know how else to phrase it so I apologize for using it) and I came across a band that consists of two women; Sue Denim and Dee Plume. Their band is/was called Robots In Disguise. I say 'is/was' because I'm not 100% sure that theyre still together. Their music is different to anything I've ever really heard before and, according to wikipedia, which we all know is not the most reliable of sources, their music genre was electropunk. Well, whatever their genre was their music is amazing. Not that big a band Robots In Disguise have had 4 albums; Happiness V Sadness (2011); We're In The Music Biz (2007); Get Rid! (2006); Robots In Disguise (2001). Sue and Dee formed Robots In Disguise whilst they were at the University of Liverpool together.

My personal favourite of their songs is 'The Tears', take a look at the music video below:

Their latest album, Happiness V Sadness, was only able to be made because of their fans, who donated money to the band so that they could finish the album. Barry M cosmetics helped with their single 'Wake Up'  and paid for the music video/Barry M advert to be made. The video features Robot Blue lipstick, which was promoted through the video.

The music video for 'Wake Up':

Aside from the band Sue is a model for Tatty Devine. Sue's relationship with Tatty Devine lead to the firm designing and making jewelry inspired by the band which was used for RiD's (Robots In Disguise) tour merchandise.

Another one of my favorites, 'Can't Stop Getting Wasted'. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a music video for this song so you'll just have to listen:

Both Sue and Dee appeared as a variety of characters in a number of episodes of The Mighty Boosh. Dee's relationship with Noel Fielding (who was one of the creators of the show) was key to their appearances.

Can't find a music video for this one either, but it's called 'Chains':

In the RED in SUMMER

Scrolling through my list of posts on this blog I came across a draft called 'OOTD' and all that was on the post was this picture of a summery-red outfit:

In this picture I've got a plain black vest top on, a red three-quarter sleeve fitted jacket, a large and simple red necklace, a chunky red belt and a flowery floaty skirt from Next. I'm not too sure where I got most of these items from but I was bored one day and so I just randomly put them together! The colour theme of this outfit is clearly red but you could create a similar outfit using a different colour, for example purple. The only 'colours' (They're not colours, they're tones) I wouldn't try this with are black and white as I can't see it working. Of course, depending on the colour theme you decide to use a white vest top may work better instead of a black one. Oh, and the reason the main colour of this outfit is red is because I built it up around the skirt, and the key colour in the skirt is red. The black in the skirt is what makes the black vest top work.

I think I must've forgotten to post it or intended on coming back to it to finish it off or something. Basically a while ago I was considering beginning to post pictures of some of my outfits in the hope that they may help some of you to create more outfits. I'm planning on actually starting doing this soon and so I guess that this can be the first post of that sort.

Dolce & Gabbana: JAIL

Haute couture designers Dolce & Gabbana have been caught dodging taxes in Italy. The pair of designers whose clients include singer Madonna could face jail if their appeals fail.
I don't really understand the full extent of Dolce & Gabbanas 'problems' but if you click HERE then you'll go to the BBC news page which has a short video explaining it all.

Sometime in the very near future I'm going to be uploading my first photography collection which I've called 'London Town' because, surprise surprise, I took the photos in London. I've edited quite a few of the pictures already but I've still got some more to edit. This photo is going to be the cover (?) for the collection, hope you like it!

Amy Winehouse Statue and Exhibition Announced

A statue of singer Amy Winehouse has been given the go ahead to be built in Camden, North London. The statue will stand on the balcony of the Roundhouse, a music centre. It is hoped that fans will visit the statue, rather than the Camden home where the 27 year old died after accidently drinking too much. The statue will show Amy in a short dress with her typical voluminous beehive. This is what the statue, designed by Scott Eaton, will look like:

It's also been revealed that an exhibition of Amy Winehouse's life is to open in July at London's Jewish Museum  The exhibition will include previously unseen family photos of Amy, some of her outfits, her first guitar and some of her record collection.

Harry Styles' New Job

If being a member of what is possibly the worlds biggest boy band of the moment doesn't work out for the 1/5 of One Direction, Mr Harry Styles has another profession lined up; in a bakery. The singer returned to W Mandeville Bakery where he worked aged 14. He happily posed for photos with fans as well as selling bakery products.

Kylie and Her 'Quirky' Outift

Popstar Kylie Minogue made an intresting fashion statement whilst at the Manhattan Dolce and Gabbana store opening. Wearing a white and lime green striped strapless dress, red heels and wacky earrings the singer showed off chunky black bra straps to a frenzy of cameras. Stood next to Paloma Faith for a photo Kylie is dressed in a wrong kind of quirky way.

Mike Brodie

Scrolling through portable.tv I came across this page: http://portable.tv/loves/post/mike-brodies-period-of-juvenile-prosperity/#1 about photographer Mike Brodie. His pictures show the beautiful, yet terrifying world in which we live. Indeed, just searching his name on Google Images provides you with row after row of fasinating, bizzare, awe and fear inspiring pictures. Some of his pictures I find plain weird but some strangely beautiful. After a good half hour of scrolling this has to be my favourite:

April/May

Hellooo
I've not posted anything in ages and I will admit it, I feel slightly guilty. Sorry. It's not like I've not been online-in fact I've been on tumblr almost everyday! I've just been a really busy bee lately! This weekend I went on my DofE practice walk and somehow managed to get sun-burnt, something which I'm secretly pleased about, because that means that the sun has, at last, decided to put in an appearance! Still, I've found a few songs which I am ashamed to say I'd not heard before-they are, in my opinion at least, fabulous! To save you some effort I've put the music videos in throughout this post, so you can listen and read.

The video is not so good, but if you close your eyes....
Los Angeles is Burning, Bad Religion

I was going to say next month but then I reliased its actually this month, my final GCSE exams start! [Insert rude word for poo]. So that means I have to revise.... which is a shame because I really haven't got the work ethic. Still, I will simply have to force myself to revise. After all, it's not like I'm the only person with important exams soon which I can't be bothered to revise for...

Teenage Icons, The Vaccines

Being the time of year that it is it means that the auditions for crappy Saturday night shows such as The Voice and BGT are almost over. Thank goodness! Still, last years X-Factor contestants Little Mix seem to have done well for themselves, three popular songs by them I can remember being unfortunate to hear played repeatedly on the radio. But ah well,  I guess everyone has to make a living somehow! And they can sing.....

Blue Song, Mint Royale

Last thing, whilst trunddling my way through the mass of the internet I came across this website, portable.tv. With a supply of up-to-date cultural coolness I suggest you take a peek.

Things you didn't know until you read this... For example... Oranges are berries....

The queen owns 1/6 of the Surface of the Earth.

Ants can survive when put in a microwave because they are so small that they can avoid the waves.

When customers in the UK first visited supermarkets they were worried that they'd be told of if they picked things off of the shelves.

Bees buzz in the key of a.

100000 mobiles are dropped down the toilet every year.

Cows moo in accents.

Oranges are berries.

Peanut butter can be made into diamonds when subject to huge amounts of pressure.

Charlie Chaplin lost a Charlie Chaplin lookalike contest.

Cara Delevinge 'Mystery'

Supermodel Cara Delevinge, whose last name I still struggle to spell, has been spotted with what reports are calling a 'mysterious' plastic package, containing white powder. Hmmm... Beautiful  rich, supermodel, party girl.... wonder what that white powder is?? Not to hard to hazard a fairly accurate guess, is it?
A similarity to another British supermodel, Kate Moss to be precise, is becoming even clearer.

Simple to make Kawaii Key Holder

To make this cute key-holder you need:
  • Tennis Ball
  • Two stick on eyes (it's better if they're googley!)
  • Black Marker pen (I used a Sharpie)
  • A suction pad, click HERE for picture
  • Scissors
  • Craft Knife

1) This is quite hard to do as tennis balls are surprisingly sturdy. Carefully using scissors and/or a craft knife cut a hole in the back of the tennis ball.

2) When the hole is big enough insert the suction pad, it should fit snuggly.

3) Draw an outline of a mouth on the opposite side of the tennis ball and careful cut out using scissors and/or craft knife. If the rubber that the tennis ball is made of isn't black then colour it in with the black marker pen.

4) Stick the eyes onto the tennis ball like above.

5) Using the suction pad attatch to wall/door.

6) Insert your keys into the 'mouth' of the tennis ball and there you go! You'll not lose your keys again!

Tumblr TV Quiz

I was scrolling away through Tumblr, you know, like you do, and I came across this TV quiz, which I thought would be fun to try. The questions are in bold and my answers are in italic. Why not grab some paper and answer the questions yourself? At the same time you can read my answers too, just for inspiration! And if your not sure what one of my 5 shows is then click on it- I've hyper linked the show names to their Wikipedia page.

Pick 5 TV Shows you like before reading the questions.

I couldn't find a titles picture for Way To Go, so I decided to just leave it, hope you don't mind, because it's tough if you do!

1. Who is your favourite character in 2?
Chuck Bass
2. Who is your least favourite character in 1?
Scott
3. What’s your favourite episode of 4?
That's quite a tough question! My favourite contestants that have been on the show so far are Philip Schofield, Paddy McGuinness and Rufus Hound. The Wanted Special was also quite a good episode.
4. What is your favourite season of 5?
I've only really just started watching the show, so it has to be the latest series, series 3. At some point though I am determined to catch up on the other series!
5. What’s your favourite relationship in 3?
Rory and Dino
6. Who is your anti-relationship in 2?
Serena and Dan
7. How long have you watched 1?
Since it began, and seeing as it's only on it's first series, not long.
8. How did you become interested in 3?
Lots of my friends watched it and tweeted about how funny it was so I thought I'd go take a look at it, and I'm glad I did because it's excellent!
9. Who is your favorite actor in 4?
Well, there's only really one actor, and that's Leigh Francis, who presents the show as Keith Lemon.
11. Which show have you seen more episodes of 1 or 3?
3, although I only started watching it recently I've managed to watch all of the previous series.
12. If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?
Holly Willoughby because she always looks stylish!
13. How would you kill off your favourite character in 5?
I don't really have a favourite character  though the main character is Miranda and she'd simply have to die in a really peculiar  funny and unusual way. Of course I hope she doesn't die otherwise there wouldn't really be a show left!
14. Would a 1/3 crossover work
A crossover between Way To Go and Mrs Browns Boys could probably work quite well. Mrs Browne could pay Scott & co to come and kill Grandad, using their McFlurry suicide machine.
15. Pair two characters in 1 that would make an unlikely, but strangely okay couple.
You can't really answer this question, as the cast consists mostly of three men, one of whom is married and the other two of whom are step-brothers, and that would be incest.
16. Overall, which show has the better cast, 3 or 5?

3, Mrs Browns Boys has a bigger cast and 99.9999% of the cast are related in some way or other, so it has to be better!
17. Which has the better theme music, 2 or 4?
2 has the better music most definatley, because it has the voice of Gossip Girl speaking over it.

Well, doing that quiz really got me thinking, I don't know about you! If you want to visit my tumblr than either click on the tumblr logo on the right hand side of the page or click on the word 'Tumblr' which is located on the top of this page.

Kind of Spooky...

Today in history the teacher kept going on about how we are all being watched. Which I found freaky, but, at the same time, quite interesting.

You have a laptop, right? And a phone? And perhaps a iPod? For all of these technology things you download apps, and you always have to agree to various terms and conditions in order to download them. Do you actually read the terms and conditions? I bet you don't, I certainly don't. Should I read any of the terms and conditions chances are I wouldn't understand many, if any, of them. What  access rights have you given the companies who own these apps? You don't know. On my Android phone it says that my Twitter app has permission to use my location, my personal information including contact data, prevent my phone from sleeping and many more things. The network provider of your phone can look at anything you put on your phone, look at your messages, your calenders, your internet history. And the government can, at any time, ask your phone company for access to your phone, something which I find rather worrying, to say the least. Yes, I have a password on my phone to keep it private, but it's not really private at all. In fact, anything to do with technology is not private. And since almost everything is related to some network, some technology, virtually nothing is private these days. Nothing at all.

Nineteen-Eighty-Four
Nineteen Eighty Four, a book by George Orwell (who also wrote Animal Farm, which you may study/have studied during your GCSEs's) is all about a world where nothing is private, and where big brother is watching your every move. I'm determined to read this book at some point, probably over the summer after my exams as it seems quite interesting.

How quickly could they find you?
There's currently a program on channel 4 called Utopia. I'm not 100% sure what its about because I've never watched it. However, there is a Utopia quiz, which, once answered tells you how quickly the government could find you, should they want to. Here's what I got:
Click HERE to take the quiz, and see how long it would take THEM to find YOU.

'I Love You Blair Waldorf, Always Have, Always Will' 'Of Course I Love You Chuck, I've Always Loved You'

Chuck & Blair had such a roller-coaster of a relationship, and their relationship is the main thing I miss now that Gossip Girl is over. Let's remind ourselves of their rocky, perfect, tense, loving relationship with some of their best quotes.

'Just because we can't be together doesn't mean I won't always love you'

'Of course I love you Chuck, I've always loved you'

'Sometimes a queen has to make a choice; a castle with a white knight or a quest with a dark prince'

'It wouldn't be my world without you in it'

'They say it's a broken heart but I hurt in my whole body'

'Life with you could never be boring'

'In the face of true love you don't just give up, even if the object of your affection is begging you too'

'I love you Blair Waldorf, always have, always will'

'All I did was love you. You said you would stand by me through everything'

'You are the lightest thing that ever came into my life'

Get Wavy Hair In 8 Simple Steps!

This simple, easy technique takes about only 5 minutes to do and if I can do it, anyone can!

Just before bed....
1) Brush your hair.
2) Tightly plait your dry hair. I plait mine into four equal braids but you can do as many plaits as you like. The more plaits you do the more wavy your hair will be!
3) Gather all of your plaits together and loosely tie a hair bobble around them just to stop them from annoying you.
3) Go to sleep.

In the morning....
4) Get up and get completely ready to go out.
5) Undo your plaits.
6) Using a soft brush if possible gently brush over the top of your head. Try to avoid brushing over the length part of your hair which was plaited unless you want a more wild, frizzy look.
7) Using your fingers and being as light as possible with your hair create your parting. If you have a fringe then brush and style it.
8) If you want to spritz over your hair with hairspray.

Hope my instructions were understandable!

Infinity Scarf -> 3 Skirts -> 2 Dresses

I was randomly looking through YouTube as you do when I came across this video. It shows how to turn an infinity scarf into a peplum, maxi or mini skirt as well as a normal dress and a dress with a sweetheart neckline. I haven't got an infinity scarf yet, YET, so I've not had chance to test it out quite yet but the very second I have one I will test these skirt/dress ideas out and let you know how I get on!

So as you can see, it really doesn't seem all that complex! And buying one infinity scarf is much, much cheaper than buying three skirts and two dresses. If you have an infinity scarf have a go and be sure to comment below, letting me know how you get on! Of course, if your super-eager to try this out then you can easily make your own infinity scarf buy sewing the ends of a regular scarf together, just be sure to check that the scarf isn't twisted before you begin to sew!

1/3/13-KEEP FIGHTING & STAY STRONG

Today is the 1st of March, which may have hit you by surprise because, like me, you forgot that February was quite a short month. First of all, HAPPY MARCH, and second of all, today is SUICIDE AWARENESS DAY. I don't know if you've seen it on Facebook but today, in order to raise suicide awareness, lots of people are writing KEEP FIGHTING or STAY STRONG on their arms. I'm doing this and I think that, regardless of if it's suicide awareness day in your country today, you should too. If you follow me on twitter or instagram then you may have already seen this photo that I took:
I may not know you, your story or that you've self harmed. But I do know that you should KEEP FIGHTING and never give up.
You don't have to write a message that long on your arm, you can just put KEEP FIGHTING or STAY STRONG. By just writing this arm you will help raise suicide awareness and if you share a photo of what you write on your arm (I set mine as my wall photo on Facebook) you will help to raise even more awareness for suicide.

SUPERMAN/SUPERJUNCTION!!!

Managed to catch up on Paddy's TV Guide at last. The last episodes theme was talent and one of my favourite parts was the bit about Black Lace, the band who wrote not one, not two, but three hit party songs. The name Black Lace might not really go with any of their songs; Agadoo, Superman etc. Superman is my favourite song of theirs, too be honest I've only heard two of them, with it's dance instructions such as 'comb your hair' its certainly a rock n roll song.

Here's the proper version:

ring the bell
OK
kiss
comb your hair
wave your hands come on wave ur hands
Superman!

And here's Paddy's modernized version:
Tweet your friends,
Play your wii
Start a riot
Botox your face
Vajazzle
Superinjunction!

The Girl Who Kissed Harry

Click HERE to read from My Daily writer Ellen Stewart who kissed heart-throb Harry Styles.

Baby Rex

Radio 1 DJ Fearne Cotton and her partner Jesse Wood are one of the latest celebrity couples to have a new addition to their family. Rex. The Cotton-Wood family have been flooded with bouquets and congratulary tweets since the birth from famous friends and family. Indeed,  Jesse's Rolling Sone relative tweeted 'Love Love Love little baby Rex @WoodJesse @Fearnecotton He's such a beautiful little boy. We're so happy for them @SallyWood.' Fellow Radio 1 DJ's and Celebrity Juice co-workers were amongst the many to congratulate Fearne & Jesse on the birth of their son. However, twitter trolls have attacked the family, relating newborn Rex's name to the name of a dog. From what I can see these bully-tweeters have not managed to get through too the family. Fearne certainly seems to be having a good, but tiring, time with Rex- she always seems to mention him in her tweets!

Nicki Minaj on the Big Screen

Super-cool singing star Nicki Minaj apparently wants to become an actress. Accorduing to perezhilton.com Nicki said:

'I would love to act, it just has to be the right project, the right movie. Nothing stereotypical about a singer. I have an agent, and we are looking at a couple of scripts, so we’ll see.'

Yes Nicki, we'll just have to wait and see. Though please don't stop making albums to pursue a career in acting! I'm sure you can manage to juggle singing and acting.

Brought together by the 2013 Brits; the hottest(?) "new couple"

This years Brits have to be my favourite ones so far. The performances, the outfits, the glitz, the empty beer bottles on the tables, and not forgetting the music all made it this. However, the most funny moment of the night has to be this:
Yupp, comedian and Brits presenter James Corden locked lips for more than just a peck with Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw
Here's the moment it happened:

Tuning into Radio 1 this morning as usual Nick Grimshaw, who coincidentally is the very man who booked Harry Styles a stripper for his birthday, appeared to have forgotten about what he got up too! On being reminded by his co-presenters he said that he didn't realize they were live on TV. Oops! Does anyone else think that Nick Grimshaw looks ever so slightly like comedian Russell Kane

The 2013 Brits in Pics

The funniest moment of the night...

One Direction on stage.

A smart but somewhat casual Robbie Williams on the red carpet.

Catherine Jenkins in most probably the least flattering outfit of the evening.

Power-dressing Little Mix on the red carpet

Taylor Swift performs Trouble

A glammed-up Jessie J in a rather low v-neck on the red carpet

This year I live blogged the 2013 Brits, as you may have noticed I've now removed the page. If you didn't watch/read my live blog when it was live then don't worry, it's all here:

Official site of the Brit awards: http://www.brits.co.uk/

22:08 Double Brit 2013 winner Emile Sandae (whose name I apologized for spelling differently and wrongly every time I've written it today) closed the 2013 Brits.
22:02 James Corden and Nick Grimshaw shared a kiss, and James was afraid to stand up afterwards.
22:01 Rizzle Kicks had a chat with James.
22:00 The award for Global Sucess was presented by international superstar Robbie Williams to One Direction. They've made 9.5 million sales. There upcoming tour I am certain has already sold out.
21:56 Mastercard British Album of the year was presented by Brian Ferry to (drum roll please) Emile Sandae, for Our Version of Events, who grinned like a cheshire cat on hearing that she had won. Well done Emile!
21:49 Mumford and Sons next performed I Will Wait, with a variety of instruments and a blue background
21:43 The Special Recognition Award was next to be awarded to War Child, check out their website and watch the video: http://brits.warchild.org.uk/
21:39 Best International Male Solo Artist was awarded to Frank Ocean, who was spotted by Beyonce, Jay-Z and Kayne West.
21:34 Uni buds Alt-J next chatted to James-I never knew that one of them doesn't speak!
21:30 2x 2013 Brit winner Ben Howard performed live next, with much more basic staging and an equally pitch-perfect song to all of the other live performances of the night so far.
21:24 International Group was presented by Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl to The Black Keys, who couldn't be there and didn't have a video message, though I'm sure they'll be delighted with it!
21:22 Robbie Williams and James had a quick chat, about Robbie's experiences at the Brits and the fit-ness of Taylor Swift.
21:18 Taylor Swift took to the stage next to perform live. She performed her single Trouble with masked backing dancers, flames and a quick costume change; wonder how Mr Styles is feeling?
21:16 Tom Daley and Jonathon Ross presented the next Brit to Adele; Skyfall for Best British Single. Unfortunately Adele couldn't be at the Brits so a short video message from her was played.
21:07 An unusual combination of Olympian Louis Smith and comedian Jack Whitehall awarded Coldplay with the Brit for British Live Act. 100 shows have been played by Coldplay to an audience of 2.2million people.
21:02 Que screaming: One Direction were next to perform live, they performed their worldwide hit comic relief single, One Way Or Another against a backdrop of explosive pop art with as much energy and more than you expected.
20:58 X-Factor's Sharon Osborne and Derment O'Leary (knew he'd pop up somewhere tonight) awarded Lana Del Ray with the award for Internationl Female Solo Artist. This is the second Brit that the New York Uni graduate has picked up.
20:50 The Critics Choice Award was next awarded to its first male winner, Tom Odell.
20:47 Ed Sheeran announced the winner of the Brit for Best British Male, Ben Howard. Award no. 2 of the night for starstruck Ben.
20:40 Superstar Justin Timberlake, to the pleasure of 99.9999% of music lovers, was next to perform live, lugging a microphone stand around with him as he did so.
20:31 Foo Fighters lead singer, Dave Grohl, was the next to be chatted too by James who spoke about the film which he directed.
20:29 The DJ that booked Harry Styles a stripper, Nick Grimshaw presented the award for the Best British Breakthrough Award to 22 year old Ben Howard, who made his debut album in a barn.
20:26 The winner of Best British Group was Mumford & Sons who were presented with their award by Simon Pegg and Berenice Marloh.
20:22 With an astonishing number of Brit awards the next entertaining performance came from a vibrantly dressed chilled out Robbie Williams, who performed his hit single Candy in-front of an optical illusion background.
20:16 James Corden took a break from the stage to chat to the not-yet drunk One Direction. Later 1D are performing their single for Comic Relief, which is currently number one in an amazing 63 countries. James also questioned Harry on which older member of the music industry he has his eye on.
20:14 Taylor Swift presented the first award for British Female Solo Artist to Emile Sandae, who is nominated for not one, not two, but THREE awards tonight. She accepted with a short but sweet acceptance speech.
20:12 A light-flashing, music-screeching, sound-breaking opening to the Brits by Muse, a high standard has indeed been set for the rest of the performances of the show from Mumford & Sons Emeli Sandae, One Direction, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Robbie Williams and more. James Corden introduced the wonderfully designed 2013 Brit award, by Damian Hirst.
20:04 Pleased to see that James Corden is well enough to present! Listning to an interview with him on radio 2 this morning it seemed like he was ill.
20:00 Make sure you don't miss the start of the Brits by tuning into ITV now!
